The new summer 2015 issue of The Horror Zine is out and includes my horror short story “The Haunted Academy” (this is a shorter, catchier alternate version of the novella by the same title that was released by Midnight Frost Books). The shorter version was written years ago, inspired by things like Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran (who was sort of the inspiration for the character of Christian). During that time I wanted a story that was tight and compact.
A few years later, I decided to expand the story into a novella, removing some of the characters (including Christian) and replacing them with new characters that I got to flesh out more, like Jan and Erica, who seemed more appealing ( though I still like Christian). So the two versions are definitely different, not just in length.
Which one do you prefer?
Thanks to editor, Jeani Rector.
