Bearwalker with Albert Taylor Released!

BearwalkerReleased today through The Society of Misfit Stories is my story “Bearwalker.” Happy to be part of this new series. Here’s a blurb about the story: Detective Berlin doesn’t believe in the supernatural. But when a series of unexplained, grisly murders sends shockwaves through the city of Reno, he turns to an unlikely source to help him track down the killer. Because Albert Taylor is more than the publisher of The Occult Files Magazine. He’s also one of the best monster hunters you’ll ever meet.

Check it out today!

New Realm Publishes “Trampled Underfoot”!

New Realm Vol04 No07Got a story published in the latest issue of the fantasy magazine, New Realm, alongside some other great writers. This new piece, which was a fun one to write (as well as a fun tale, in my humble opinion), is entitled “Trampled Underfoot” and has something to do with hoofs, hoof-beats, horses, horse shoes…well, uhh, you get the picture…don’t want to reveal any spoilers!

Even if you don’t like horses I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. All I got to say is, “Whiiiiiiinny!”

I’m proud of this story. It’s a personal favorite.

Aurora Wolf Publishes “Saturday’s Child”

Just got a new story entitled “Saturday’s Child” published for the new year in Aurora Wolf. This piece was inspired by the 1970s, particularly the pop culture back then, as well as apocalyptic themes. (Yes, I’m a 70s child and like that era:), hence the hippy, groovy sounding name.

Even though I was just a child at the time, looking back at that period in retrospect, it was a simpler, more innocent time compared to now. I remember riding in cars without wearing a seat belt (what safety?!), being a latch key kid, having cool toys (remember the Mego action figures?), hearing disco and classic rock staples like Journey and Bee Gees on the radio, and seeing President Carter on TV.

It’s fun to reflect back and sprinkle ingredients from the past into your writing. We’re living in an age now where one can get a lot of inspiration from the current climate, for example, technology, the environment, scientific advances, politics, foreign/military affairs. A lot of food for thought. But for now, kick back, relax, take a swig from your favorite beer, and enjoy “Saturday’s Child”.

“The Haunted Academy” Published by The Horror Zine

TheHorrorZineSummer2015The new summer 2015 issue of The Horror Zine is out and includes my horror short story “The Haunted Academy” (this is a shorter, catchier alternate version of the novella by the same title that was released by Midnight Frost Books). The shorter version was written years ago, inspired by things like Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran (who was sort of the inspiration for the character of Christian). During that time I wanted a story that was tight and compact.

A few years later, I decided to expand the story into a novella, removing some of the characters (including Christian) and replacing them with new characters that I got to flesh out more, like Jan and Erica, who seemed more appealing ( though I still like Christian). So the two versions are definitely different, not just in length.

Which one do you prefer?

Thanks to editor, Jeani Rector.
